It takes approximately $130,000 per year to run the Halls band program. And while Knox County Schools pays the salaries for the Band Director and the Associate Band Director, the school system budget only provides $700 per year for band expenses. While every dollar is very much appreciated, unfortunately, the money provided to us by Knox County is not even enough to provide transportation to one away football game. Additionally, since no student at Halls High has ever been turned away because of their inability to pay fees, the band needs help to fill in the gaps to ensure every student has access to an exceptional music education and opportunities to explore their musical fine arts talent.
Our sponsors are our partners, and we are honored to promote those who help enrich our students’ opportunities. When you give to the Halls High Band, you can see your donation in action every time our students perform!
By donating to the Halls High Band, you will directly help our band students be successful by:
- Assisting students unable to pay band fees
- Purchase and repair instruments
- Purchasing sheet music, marching uniforms, flags, concert/show attire and show props
- Providing transportation to away games, competitions and performances
- Bringing in additional instructors and guest conductors
- Feeding the students during camps and competitions
While the students and band directors provide the talent, there is a great deal of volunteer time and financial resources needed as well. The Halls Band Boosters is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of hard-working parents and friends of the band, whose sole mission is to do their part in providing the resources needed to develop a successful musical fine arts education for all band students. We have an excellent group of board members and booster members who are dedicated to supporting our band students in every way from working concessions stands and building props to fundraising! We rely on Booster volunteers, area organizations, businesses and individuals to work together to achieve our goals.
In 2024-25, our major fundraisers included:

- Food City Frenzy Car Washes
- SNAP Raise
- BBQ Dinner
- Annual Jazz Band Dinner
- Little Ceasar’s Pizza Kit Sale
- Pick a Date to Donate Calendar
- Concession Stand & Merchandise Tent at home football games
All combined, these fundraising initiatives account for much of our needed budget, but without our corporate sponsors and personal donations, we would never be able to achieve our overall fundraising goals.
